| Welcome to the English Center
Students come to the English Center once a month. There are seven work stations in the Center and the students work at a different assigned station during each visit. We try to make the tasks fun and heterogeneous. Most kids love coming to the center and they are on task during the whole lesson. Once the kids have been trained to work there, it is almost a free lesson for the teacher, believe it or not
Please feel free to explore our center. We love visitors, so you-all can just drop in whenever you like, just call first. By the way, it looks like we have a budget of millions. We don't! What you see is the result of a lot of blood, sweat and tears as well as constant schnorring, going through other people's garbage and even pinching things occasionally.
The Video Corner
In this area, students watch various videos (without subtitles) and complete viewing activity worksheets. Headphones are connected to one hub so that other students in the center are not distracted by the noise of the television. See the attached sample video viewing activity. The sofas and coffee table were found next to tips (dumpsters) on the street
The Listening Corner
In the Listening Corner, students can listen to greatest hits in English from the 60s onwards and complete activity sheets
The Reading Corner
Students read short books and complete activity sheets here. This has nothing to do with our extensive reading program. English books for extensive reading are kept in the school's main library
The Computer Corner
Students do webquests here. All the worksheets can be found under center activities. We invite teachers from other schools to use these activities and naturally give us some feedback.
Tasks I & Tasks II & Games Corners
The two task areas provide students with a huge variety of fun worksheets to do mostly dealing with vocabulary and reading comprehension as well as word searches, crosswords, puzzles, etc. On the games table, students play games in English, mostly Scrabble |
